JAG Day 2

After a great first day of June Age Group Championships we started day two prelims with the 200 breaststroke. In the boys 200 breaststroke prelims we had a nice drop from Logan Cornellison of 3.7 seconds. After the breaststroke we had the girls 100 butterfly prelims where we had Luca Burns drop 1.23 seconds. Next was the girls 400 freestyle prelims where we had a strong performance from Megan Kelley coming in 19th.

Day 2 of JAG’s was the first day of competition for the 12 & under swimmers timed final session.

Highlight swims of the day were Sonja Aarsvold‘s 12th place finish in the 200 Free and 6th place finish in the 50 Butterfly for the 7-10 girls. Justin Schnieder placed 1st in the 200 Free and 5th in the 50 Butterfly for 7-10 boys. Aidan Wilson placed 2nd in the 100 Back and 3rd in the 100 Breast for the 11-12 boys. Sammy Sanchez placed 15th in the 200 Freestyle and also placed 16th in the 100 Breast for the 7-10 boys. Benjamin Sullivan Douglass placed 15th in 100 Breast dropping over 4 seconds. Ty Schneider dropped over a second in the 100 Breast and over 2 seconds in the 200 Free for the 7-10 boys division. Joslyn Rothlein had great drops in the 100 Back dropping 5 seconds and also dropping over 9 seconds in the 400 freestyle for the 11-12 girls division. Team records that were broken during day 2 time finals were Ty Schnieder in the 7-8 Boys 100 Breast and Justin Schnieder in the 9-10 Boys 200 Free.

After the 12 & under timed finals came our second pm final sessions for the 13 and up swimmers. We started off with the girls 200 breaststroke where we had Lauren Wood finish 1st with a new Summer Junior National cut and team record. Lauren was closed followed by McKayla Sanchez who swam to a 3rd place finish and dropped 1.72 seconds. Next was our boys 200 breaststroke, we had Benjamin Vanderhyden finish 14th with a 3.02 second time drop. Up next came the girls 100 butterfly, Sydney Jackson finished 16th in the 13-14 100 fly after a 1.86 second time drop. Following Sydneys lead was Megan Kelley who finished 10th while dropping 0.99 seconds for a new Sectional Bonus Cut. Up next was the boys 100 butterfly, we had Grayson Boyce finish 10th after dropping 4.78 seconds and Micheal Jones finish 9th in the 15-18 boys division with a new Sectional Cut. The final individual event of the night was the 400 freestyles. We had Sydney Jackson come in 9th place in the 13-14 girls after a 6.10 second drop. In the 15-18 girl 400 freestyle we had Emily Moore finish 11th in a new Sectional Cut after a 7.71 second drop with Madison Frederick following close behind for a 16th place finish after a 0.86 second drop.

Day 2 finished up with the 400 medley relays. We had our 13-14 girls team of Luca Burns, Adelaide Pritchett, Sara Wood and Sydney Jackson finish 12th with a 2.36 second time drop. The 15-18 girls Medley relay was up next where the team of Madison Frederick, Lauren Wood, McKayla Sanchez and Emily Moore finished 1st with a new Sectional Cut. Following the girls lead was our boys 13-14 medley relay team of Andrew Romero, Logan Cornellison, Matthew Holmes and Grayson Boyce who finished 9th after dropping 10.29 seconds. The 15 – 18 boys medley relay of Hayden Cornellison, Ben Vanderhyden, Michael Jones and Evyn Kelleher finished off the night with a 2nd place finish and a 6.12 second drop.

Day 1 edits – We had Caroline Katzman Drop 9 seconds in her 200 backstroke for a great prelims swim.
