2015 SCS Club Championship Results

2015 Short Course Club Championships hosted by Rose Bowl Aquatics was a fun and fast meet for our TMEC swimmers that achieved the qualifying time standards. We had 14 swimmers representing TMEC and most achieved new personal best times or were close to their best times.

The meet began on Thursday night with Joslyn Rothlein, Justin Schneider, and Sydney Jackson competing in the 1000 yard freestyle. Joslyn finished 22nd overall dropping 19 seconds en route to an 11.55.90. Justin also made big drops in his swim, taking 30 seconds off his previous best, finishing 11th overall with an 11.21.07. Sydney dropped 30 seconds to get a 10:45.79 and placed 13th overall in the 13-14 girls age group. These swims gave TMEC the momentum to start the meet off on the right foot.

Friday was the first full day of competition with swimmers of all ages competing. McKayla Sanchez got things going finishing 3rd in the 400 Individual Medley posting a 4:28.46. Sydney Jackson followed up with a 4:47.94, good enough for 26th place overall. Justin Schneider also showed is ability over the four strokes finishing in 5:11.25, landing him in 23rd in his age group. Moving on to the 200 backstrokes, Emily Moore finished 4th with a 2:08.31, just off of her prelim best time of a 2:08.15. Hayden Cornellison took 5th in his event with a 1:54.08, also just shy of his prelim swim of a 1:53.23. Sidne Hermanson had a great showing as well, swimming a 2:13.18 placing her 23rd. Next up was the 100 Breaststroke were McKayla Sanchez made her second appearance of the evening, popping off a 1:06.94, landing 7th in her age group. Ben Vanderhyden swam his way to a 1:00.28, also finishing 7th. Andrea Lindemann competed her way to a 1:09.13 finishing 19th overall. Ty Schneider stepped up and swam his way to a 1:25.35, landing 24th in his age group. The final event of the day was the 100 freestyle and TMEC had no signs of slowing down here. Megan Kelley and Emily Moore posted some fast times, going 53.43 and 54.37 respectively, finishing 7th and 12th. Evyn Kelleher wanted to join the fun and threw down a 49.76, placing him in 15th. Sidne Hermanson raced her way to a 55.48 and ending up 35th in the standings. Justin Schnieder pushed hard to go 58.48, good for 28th in his age group. Waiting paitently all evening for her chance to shine was Sonja Aarsvold, taking 4th overall with her 1:02.57.

Saturday was a fun filled day with exciting swims and hard fought races. This time Andrea Lindemann kicked things off with 2:19.94 in the 200 Individual Medley taking the 37th spot. McKayla Sanchez cranked out a 2:10.54 landing 12th in her age group. Ben Vanderhyden and Hayden Cornellison battled their way through, going 2:00.85 and 2:02.50 respectively. Shifting gears to the 100 Backstroke, Sidne Hermanson went 1:00.88 finishing 16th overall. Emily Moore then hit the pool with a close battle finishing 2nd with a 57.33. Evyn Kelleher and Hayden Cornellison also battled tough going 53.92 and 56.15, finishing 10th and 17th. Sonja Aarsvold raced her way to an 8th place finish in the 50 Butterfly going 31.45. Sydney Jackson flew her way to a 2:16.44 in the 200 Butterfly, ending up 32nd. The final swims of the day came through in the 500 yard Freestyle. Sonja Aarsvold finaled 4th with a 6:04.80. Ty Schneider made big drops, going 6:10.56 in his age group, taking the 18th spot. Justin Schneider took more time off the board, finishing 22nd in his age group with a 5:30.69. Sydney Jackson rounded out the evening with a 5:19. 48, finishing 27th in her age group.

The last day of the championships still saw some fast swims from all age groups, and TMEC was able to provide its fair share of fast swims. In the 200 yard freestyle, Sonja Aarsvold went 2:15. 28, landing 7th overall. Justin Schneider took the 28th slot in a 2:05.76, and Sidne Hermanson cruised to a 23rd finish with a 1:59.74. Emily Moore ran down the field in her way to a 1st place swim, going 1:52.41. Megan wasn’t too far behind with a 1:56.61, good for 11th place finish. Sonja Aarsvold took to the pool again, going 1:11.62 in the 100 Butterfly. Mckayla Sanchez raced her way to a fast 58.18, landing 8th overall. Andrea Lindemann raced her way to a 2:30.46 in the 200 Breaststroke, landing her in a swim off for 10th place with another girl. Andrea finished second in the swim off, but bettered her time by another second in the process, going 2:29.76.
McKayla Sanchez swam her final race of the meet in the 200 breaststroke as well, going a 2:23.85, finishing 7th in her age group. Ben Vanderhyden gave the crowd something to cheer about in his race to a close 2nd place finish, posting a 2:08.45.
Sonja Aarsvold splashed and dashed her way to a 29.25 in the 50 Freestyle, finishing 10th in her age group. Sidne Hermanson went 25.27 in the 50 Free, good for 24th and Evyn Kelleher posted a quick time of 22.49 in route to his 22nd place finish.
